Based on the success in the phase I studies we have decided to promote this
activity on a wider scale to cover the SCU’s from all parts of the State.
Brief Objectives of the
Study:
- Selection of SCU's from
various clusters including units from water Scarce Areas
- Prepare CP Scheme Designs
and layout etc, including dry dust collection/suppression system
- Provide Technical
Assistance to SCU entrepreneurs during implementation of CP Schemes
- Post implementation field
studies and final setting of water sprays to achieve desired results
- Reviewing current emission
standards and recommending appropriate standards based on study findings.
- Assisting GPCB in
strengthening existing monitoring program for SCU's
II: In
depth field studies for improving Productivity and reducing dust generation
at source by adopting feasible CP best practices
It is proposed to take up in
depth field studies covering following aspects in 3 selected
representative stone crusher units:

Selection of
most representative SCUs (3 Nos.) covering various types of technologies,
layouts etc.

Detailed
study of existing plant and machinery, layout and operating practices, sieve
analysis studies
-
Identification of problems/lacunae in the existing equipments/operating
practices leading to lower productivity

Identifying
Cleaner Production practices suitable for adoption in the SCU's for
improving productivity, discussion with Indian Manufacturers for assessing
feasibility of incorporation.

Trial
implementation of level I CP measures/designs in at least one SCU (the level
I CP measures are classified as those measures/changes involving lesser
investment and easier to incorporate. Level II would involve major changes
in the existing equipment's and layouts, which would be dealt later only
after success of level I measures).

Estimation of
benefits & Cost effectiveness after implementation of CP techniques/Measures

To prepare
simple engineering guidelines, with appropriate technical design details on
standard CP techniques suitable for different sizes along with O&M
Procedures

Dissemination
Workshop involving stone crusher units and manufacturers for general
acceptance of improved level I CP measures and awareness creation.
Preparation of Audio Visual
Material for Mass Awareness and Dissemination of Information
For the purpose of creating mass awareness and for publicity of Cleaner
Production achievements and benefits in stone crushers, it is proposed to
shoot a video film of about 20 minutes duration showing various aspects of
the project and highlighting CP success stories and achievements. The
cassettes along with success stories in the form of booklets in bilingual
form would be distributed in various clusters to achieve generate multiplier
effect at rapid pace.
