Creation of Demand and Strengthening of Capacity Building on Cleaner Production in Gujarat (Phase-II)
 

For strengthening the immediate operational functions of the Gujarat Department of Forests and Environment (GDFE), and Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) in implementing the Water Act, the Air Act, and the Environmental Protection Act, the task of Improving Compliance Monitoring was undertaken with the following objectives:

• To identify the gaps and recommend suitable measures for improving the existing monitoring and compliance mechanisms in Gujarat State,

• To develop a DSS (decision support system) for effective compliance monitoring,

• To develop a system of public-private partnership to facilitate compliance and self regulation,

• To strengthen GDFE and GPCB by supporting their institutional development needs
